not FALLEN simply HERO

He guards the camp while the others
sleep
Consumed by the days torment he
begins to weep
Wearily he unravels the happenings
of that day
Giving a moments prayer for those
who were blown away
Closing his eyes he recalls - 'his rifle
balanced on his shoulder
From semi to auto he flicks the
selector lever
Adjusting the rear sight scope he
prepares to aim
A pawn in this wars political game
Finger on the trigger he is psyched
for the worst
Muzzle down he shoots 3-round bursts
In slow motion - chaos is all he can see
A split second of a moment before
shaken from his reverie
Explosions rocking the earth beside him
The enemies tanks slowly encompassing
Screams echo through the air
As body parts are scattered everywhere
No time to think he springs into action
Firing as many shots without distraction
Focused on the target at hand
Fighting a war even he does not
understand
Swimming about in what appears to
be a flood
Only to realise the earth is covered in
the battle zones blood
True Heroes have never Fallen so
Fallen Heroes his comrades will
never be
Side by side they lived until taken out
by the enemy
Valiantly they fought and to himself he
has decreed it so
Brothers in arms forever
'not Fallen simply Hero'
A decision made not unlike his adversary
For love of respective homelands to each
other they are the enemy
